The City of Edmonton has named a park in South Terwillegar after Constable Dan Woodall. Woodall was killed in the line of duty last June.
Constable Dan Woodall Park is at 7304 South Terwillegar Drive NW. It is new and still in development, but will contain a soccer field, baseball diamond, a playground and landscaping.
The City received many suggestions from citizens wanting to honour Constable Woodall and to show their support and appreciation for him and the police service. The City’s Naming Committee says naming a park after Constable Woodall is a lasting memorial that has the support of the family, the Edmonton Police Association and Police Chief Rod Knecht.
"It is a privilege for the City of Edmonton to honour Constable Dan Woodall in this way,” said Mayor Don Iveson. “His example of bravery, his commitment to this community and his abiding love of family and sport will be remembered for years to come.”
