July 19, 2014 was an exciting day for the Terwillegar Community League. The project has been in the works for many years, with planning and fundraising beginning in late 2011. I have been proud to see the dedication and enthusiasm of the residents in the community who have given many hours of their time to help make this spray park happen.
As the first spray park in Southwest Edmonton, this park will contribute greatly to the lives of
citizens in the area. There’s no denying the importance of parks and playgrounds as community
gathering places that encourage physical recreation and play. As a high school football and
basketball coach for more than 30 years, I saw first-hand the benefits an active and healthy
style can have on young people and communities. This spray park will encourage people to get
outside, it will act as a hub to bring people in the community together, and it will help our young kids stay active and fit.
